Event Snapshot
Pehal Sanstha's free distribution of school shoes to children of a government primary school in Barmer's desert belt received coverage in the local press. This page brings together that coverage.
The distribution was held at Rajkiya Prathmik Vidyalaya, Rupani Kumharon ki Dhani, Gram Panchayat Sadecha (Nokhda), Barmer, Rajasthan. On-ground support came from Shri Vaibhav Kaul and Smt. Shalini Kaul, Kamal Enterprises, Sadecha, the School Management Committee, and Panchayat Samiti, Nokhda. The coverage period is May 2026.
Why Shoes
Barmer lies in the desert belt of western Rajasthan, where summer conditions are among the harshest in India. In May 2026, Barmer was recorded as the hottest city in the country, with temperatures touching 47.3°C, prompting the district administration to issue a red alert for extreme heat and heatwave conditions.
Dainik Bhaskar, 12 May 2026, reported: “Desh mein sabse garam Barmer: Para 47.3 degree, yahan raatein Shimla aur Srinagar ke din se bhi 35% zyada garam.”
In that heat the ground and sand become scorching through the day. Children from families in these remote hamlets often walk barefoot, or in worn-out footwear, to reach school, and many suffer burns on their feet. Most parents here are daily-wage labourers earning around Rs. 200–300 a day, which leaves little for proper school shoes.
That hardship led Pehal Sanstha to focus this drive on school shoes, so children have immediate protection while walking to school.
Dainik Bhaskar — 12 May 2026
Dainik Bhaskar's Barmer edition reported the drive under the headline “Vidyarthiyon ko joote va bag vitarit” (“Shoes and Bags Distributed to Students”).
The report said that, on the initiative of Pehal Sanstha (Jaipur) president Smt. Pooja Koolwal, a free distribution of shoes was organised for children of the Government Primary School at Rupani Kumharon ki Dhani, Gram Panchayat Sadecha (Nokhda). It noted the support of volunteers Shri Vaibhav Kaul and Smt. Shalini Kaul, and quoted Smt. Koolwal saying that meeting children's basic needs alongside their education is equally a responsibility of society.
The article recorded thanks from headmaster Shri Mukesh Dhatarwal, SMC president Shri Hariram Prajapat, and Panchayat Samiti representative Shri Ramaram Prajapat.
The headlines mention shoes and bags. The distribution itself comprised school shoes only.
Niharika Times — May 2026
Niharika Times (niharikatimes.com) carried the headline “Sarkari vidyalaya ke bachchon ko mile joote aur school bag, Pehal Sanstha ki sarahniya pehal” (“Government School Children Receive Shoes and School Bags — A Commendable Initiative by Pehal Sanstha”).
The report described the drive as a commendable initiative. It credited Pehal Sanstha (Jaipur) and Smt. Pooja Koolwal, and acknowledged Shri Vaibhav Kaul, Smt. Shalini Kaul and Kamal Enterprises, Sadecha. It noted the joy on the children's faces, and recorded teachers and parents praising Pehal Sanstha's spirit of service, along with thanks from the headmaster, the SMC president and the Panchayat Samiti representative.
As with the print report, the distribution itself comprised school shoes only.
